Stewardship 2026

Each year in the Autumn term we set out the vision for ministry at All Saints and the budget needed to make that happen.

Please read this covering letter from our Vicar, Steve Nichols, to access all of the information about this year’s campaign.

6 Myths about Giving

"My giving doesn't make a difference."

Each year All Saints needs to raise around £750k to sustain its ministry activities. That amount of money is only possible where a large group of people partner together. But also, it might make a difference to you - the Bible teaches that giving is a gift from God, in which he grows our faith.

"I'll start giving when..."

When I earn £X? When we get a 2nd salary? When the house is paid off? There'll always be a reason not to give, so it's best to just start now. Make it a habit, start small and ask God to help you grow in generosity.

"It's not my church, so I don't give."

If you're new to church or just exploring we're not asking for your money - we don't take collections. But if All Saints is your church, where you attend regularly, then let's partner together. When we give, we have a stake in the church - it's our church.

"Don't you get funding from the Church or Government?"

No. Everything that happens through All Saints is solely the result of the generous giving of the church family.Whilst the church receives some money back from the government for Gift Aid and VAT, All Saints isn't given any grants from the central church or government. In fact, All Saints is a giver of grants to others.

"You've got lots of money in the bank - you don't need my money!"

It's true, that currently All Saints has a very healthy bank balance. However, most of those funds are already designated to particularly projects such as the Tiger Roof and other fabric and mission related projects. The focus of Stewarship is not on the big projects, but on the regular giving which sustains the everyday life of the church.

"I don't agree with everything the church is doing or believes."

The Church of England gets most of the attention in the national news, but in reality that's not where our money goes. Money given by All Saints to Chichester Diocese is largely spent on providing the clergy here, with a small amount to central costs. All of the money is ring-fenced for local, orthodox ministry. Within All Saints, we will always have different views about how the church should run or where money is spent, and you can always ask the Vicar, Wardens & PCC for more information on this (see finance report). Although, part of being a church family is recognising that we give together, for a common purpose, which may not always be the same as our personal preferences.

Payroll Giving

Some employers offer a Payroll Giving Service, enabling you to make a payment to the church from your salary each month. Because this payment is made before you are taxed, it is a tax-efficient way to give, especially if you are a higher-rate tax payer. Some employers will even offer to match your contribution!

Legacies

Those who have left legacies to All Saints have had and continue to have a significant impact towards the ongoing mission of All Saints and beyond.
