A message from James In December I wrote to the church about some key changes in our church life, which would take place in 2015 and which were designed to give fresh impetus to our mission and ministry in Lindfield. The paper was called “To equip the saints” * because our main goal was to put into effect our Reach > Build > SendMission Action Plan and help one another to grow spiritually, to deepen our love for one another and to serve the Lord more faithfully.
One of the key changes was the creation of a Ministry Oversight Team consisting of eight Ministry Co-ordinators who would oversee the eight overarching Ministry Streams into which the current ministries of the church will be grouped. The purpose of this major change was to promote better co-ordination, planning and growth and to release fresh energy and vision for our mission in Lindfield.
Every current church ministry and activity has a home in one of the streams, but the boundaries are necessarily permeable to accommodate ministries with activities that bridge more than one of the streams. In alphabetical order, the streams are:
Children & Youth
Discipleship & Growth
Operations & Communications
Outreach & Witness
Pastoral Care & Practical Support
Prayer & Worship (The Gathered Church)
Welcome & Fellowship
World Mission & Social Justice
Work has been progressing behind the scenes and I am now delighted to say that we have six of our eight MCs in position and the MOT has had its first (very productive) meeting on March 16th.
This paper is produced to coincide with the commissioning of the MOT this Sunday (March 29th) at our church services. It introduces the MCs and maps out their initial areas of oversight responsibility. (It has been an interesting exercise in placing each church activity in its particular Ministry Stream and we fully anticipate that these may well change as time goes on. )
MCs will be in touch with each team leader in the course of the next month or so to introduce themselves and to discuss future developments and activities.
The document below outlines each role and the activities within this and a little bit about each member of the MOT.
