Music is a vital part of our corporate worship at all saints Lindfield -
a wonderful God-given vehicle for expressing our adoration, praise and devotion.
all saints Lindfield is blessed with many talented and enthusiastic musicians - singers and instrumentalists. Our aim is involve as many as possible!
The church uses a variety of musical forms in its worship.
The 9.30 and 6.30 services are led by bands/groups of instrumentalists and singers which complement the organ and piano.
Music in the 11.15 service is led by the organ and a robed choir (Royal School of Church Music affiliated).

Bands/Instrumental Groups

| A rota of players and singers who lead at the 9:30am and 6:30pm services. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evening (for 9:30am service) and on a Sunday (for 6:30pm service).
Ability to demonstrate at least Grade 5 standard essential, as is a capacity for flexibility and basic improvisation where directed. Transpositions provided. Less common instruments incorporated by means of fully- scored orchestral-style groupings once or twice per term. A high emphasis is placed on reliability and punctuality. Membership of all groups would usually follow from an initial period of church membership (except in the case of students), and an initial meeting with the Director of Music. |
Choral Singing
Choir (11:15am) An RSCM affiliated robed choir currently of about 16 members leads each 11:15am service and at weddings by request. Anthem repertoire ranges from Tallis to Townend. Rehearses on a Friday evening. Occasional social events and yearly visit to diocesan festival. New members very welcome via an informal singing test with the Director of Music. Rehearsal assumes some knowledge of score-reading. |  click to enlarge

Singing Group (6:30pm)
A recently formed and still-developing informal group of about 19 members who presently lead once per month at evening communion services. Repertoire mostly contemporary praise & worship. Rehearsal via internet, immediately prior to Sunday service and several Saturday mornings during the year. Some knowledge of score-reading helpful but not essential. New members very welcome (no audition), but speak to Jonathan Robinson first.
Festival Choir (Christmas Carol Services)
A massed group most recently of some 46 formed around the 11:15am choir, but open to all-comers. Gathered specifically for the Christmas Carol Services but has also led at Advent Sunday and Pentecost previously. Rehearsals arranged as required. No audition, just turn up to rehearsals as advertised in All Saints’ News.
Bellringing
The Tower Bell Team
The Church tower has a peal of eight bells. The aim of the Tower team is to ring for two of the main services each Sunday. A practice is held every Tuesday evening from 7,45pm to 9pm. Newcomers are very welcome to come and learn - bell ringing is a great hobby enjoyed by all ages from teens to eighties, as well as providing a service to the church fellowship and the community of Lindfield. The Tower team is led by Richard Hutchings.

The Handbell Group
The handbell group meets to practice on Monday evenings in the Tiger Stable. A variety of music is played, ranging from classical to folk, hymns and carols. Performances, particularly leading up to Christmas, are given in local Residential & Nursing Homes and to church groups.
