Much has changed since William Walters began printing and distributing Gospels and New Testaments 125 years ago. Printed publications are still important but so too, has been the application of digital technology which has increased, significantly, the scope of distribution worldwide.
Last year, SGM Lifewords distributed nearly one million printed resources in 94 countries and 60 languages. In the same year, 18 new titles were added in major world languages and digital distribution added 9 new e-books and 14 million Life Changing Words, downloads plus scriptural emails sent to 30,000 subscribers in 200 countries worldwide.
Recent titles include Jesus-A life story, Why Me?, You Matter, Inspiring Prayer and many others, all of which are accessible for personal use in one to one outreach. Each themed booklet title presents relevant words of scripture to encourage readers to experience the relevance of God and the purposes of God for their daily lives as they read and receive his Words of Life.
The website: www.sgmlifewords.com enables you to select personal resources as well as sharing more of SGM Lifewords programmes, such as Choose Life, The Pavement Project and current priorities for prayer.
The Pavement Project began as a new programme 13 years ago, to identify with street children on a one-to-one basis and to help them to recognise their self-worth and the love that Jesus has for each one of them. Personal ministry to a child soldier in Colombia resulted in his request ‘Please change my life before you go’. In India, children being sold on the rubbish dumps have been ‘picked up’ by Pavement Project workers who see God at work changing children’s lives.
So, we praise God for the 22,000 plus children to whom there has been personal ministry in twelve countries over the past decade and more and the great proportion who received God’s Word for their lives and those who have made a profession of faith in Christ.
Under the bell tower you will find a rack containing a small selection of SGM Lifewords booklets freely available to give to personal friends and contacts.
Also, if you are able, please join us in London, at Westminster Chapel on Friday 15 March at 11.30am to learn more of this work, enjoy George Verwer’s ministry, celebrate God’s provisions over the past 125 years and share the vision for the years ahead, you will be most welcome.
